Abstractindoor air pollutants including CO2, CO, PM10, PM2.5 and volatile organic compounds (VOCS) were measured in four hot spring hotels in Guangdong province, China. High levels of CO2 observed in the hotel rooms might be attributed to poor ventilation, and the variations of indoor PM10 and PN42.5 concentrations were related to occupants' activities. Alpha-pinene and limonene were the most common VOC species in the hot spring hotels other than monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons like benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylenes (BTEX). Also as a contrast to the variations of BTEX, their concentrations were obviously higher at night than in the daytime. Negative correlations were found between CO2 and PM10 and between BTEX and the monoterpenes (alpha-pinene and limonene) in indoor environments, but indoor and outdoor BTEX were positively correlated. For indoor to outdoor ratios (I/O) of air pollutants, CO2, alpha-pinene and limonene had I/O much higher than 1.0, but PM10 and BTEX had I/O very close to 1.0, indicating obvious indoor source input of CO2, alpha-pinene and limonene, and input of BTEX and PM10 from outdoor sources.
